How does it work for pet sitters?
Blooming Pets makes pet sitting easier for you.
How can you receive pet sitting requests quickly?
> I fill out my profile as completely as possible
To build trust with your future clients, it is essential to provide as much information as possible that highlights your experience and knowledge.
Photos also play a major role in reassuring pet owners.
Another reassuring feature: if you have provided us with proof of identity, pet owners will see a icon on your profile indicating that your identity has been verified.
> I enter my availability
In your pet sitter account, you have a calendar where you can indicate your periods of unavailability. This will allow owners who are searching for a pet sitter to find you. We will also be able to send you proposals based on your availability.
I have received a pet sitting request
> The Blooming Pets website notifies me
You will receive an email in your pet sitter account inbox and another in your personal email inbox.
> I reply and communicate with the pet owner
You must go to your account in the My Pet Sitting Jobs / To be confirmed section to confirm or decline the booking. You can communicate with the pet owner via the website’s messaging system to request more information about the pet sitting requirements and to arrange a meeting prior to the pet sitting job.
> I meet the pets and their family You make yourself available for an initial meeting with the pet owner to confirm that your respective expectations match and that you are able to provide pet sitting services.
> The owner confirms or cancels the booking
Following the preliminary meeting, the owner decides whether or not to entrust their pets to you during their absence. The owner confirms the booking, and their pet sitting request is then moved to My Pet Sitting Jobs / Booked. You will then need to sign the contract and collect the keys to the home. The contract is available in your pet sitter account.
What childcare services can I offer?
As a pet sitter at Blooming Pets, you can offer three types of services:
✅ Visits to the owner’s home
You visit the animals at their home as often as requested by the owner (once or several times a day). You provide all the necessary care: food, water, litter, games, walks, etc.
Visits generally last between 30 minutes and 1 hour, depending on the number of animals and the owner’s requests.
✅ Day care at the owner’s home
As a pet sitter, your role is to visit the owners’ home to take care of their pets. You provide them with attention, care (food, water, etc.), walks and activities appropriate to their species and needs. Your presence may extend up to 10 consecutive hours, usually between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
✅ Overnight pet sitting at the owner’s home
As a night-time pet sitter, you stay at the owners’ home to look after their pets, keep them company, ensure their safety and respond to any needs they may have, usually from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.
✅ House-sitting at the owner’s home
As a house-sitter, you temporarily reside at the owners’ home to look after their pets while performing certain routine maintenance tasks, such as collecting the post, watering the plants or maintaining the swimming pool if necessary. The length of your stay can vary from a few days to several weeks, depending on the owners’ expectations.
✅ Dog walking
Walks last 60 minutes regardless of the number of dogs, always on a leash (unless requested by the owner).
Pick-up and drop-off take place at the owner’s home.
✅ Boarding for animals
This option is reserved for pet sitters who have provided their SIRET number and proof of their ACACED certification. It allows you to take animals into your home, providing a safe environment while their owners are away. This service can take the form of boarding facilities such as kennels, dog boarding, cat hotels, etc. It is ideal for animals with specific needs or those that do not cope well with being alone.
How many childcare services can I provide at the same time?
As a pet sitter with Blooming Pets, there is nothing to stop you from providing several pet sitting services at the same time.
For greater transparency, we recommend that you inform the various owners.
However, it is your responsibility to ensure that you are able to carry out these different visits without compromising the quality of your service and the care provided to the animals.
Be sure to take into account your travel time and the duration of your visits according to the owner’s requests.
As a reminder, in order to properly care for an animal, the minimum visit duration is 30 minutes on site.
How can landlords contact me?
Owners can contact you directly via the Blooming Pets messaging service, but to do so, they must first choose a subscription that gives them access to pet sitter profiles.
When an owner is interested in your profile, they can send you a message via the platform to discuss their needs, ask questions and arrange an initial meeting if necessary.
📌 Remember to check your messages regularly and respond quickly to maximise your chances of being chosen!
How does messaging work on the platform?
Blooming Pets’ messaging system allows owners and pet sitters to communicate easily and securely.
✅ Making contact: Only owners who have taken out a subscription can send you a message via the platform. You will be notified when an owner contacts you.
✅ Secure discussions: All your exchanges take place directly on the platform, ensuring clear tracking and data protection.
✅ Quick response recommended: A quick response time increases your chances of being chosen by an owner. Remember to check your messages regularly so you don’t miss any opportunities.
📌 Important: To avoid any confusion or problems, we recommend that you discuss all the details of the pet sitting assignment (dates, specific requirements, conditions) before accepting a job.
Can I offer services outside the platform?
No, pet sitters and owners agree to not establish any direct commercial relationship outside of Blooming Pets for services found via the platform.
📌 What this means in practice:
✔️ All discussions and bookings must be made on Blooming Pets.
✔️ It is forbidden to display personal contact details on your profile (telephone number, email, social media, etc.) in order to bypass the platform.
✔️ Once an owner contacts you via the messaging service, they have taken out a subscription, and you can then communicate freely to organise the pet sitting.
✔️ Contact details can be exchanged after initial contact has been made to ensure that the service runs smoothly.
✔️ In the event of non-compliance, Blooming Pets reserves the right to delete the account of the pet sitter concerned.
💡 Why this rule? It guarantees transparency, security and fairness for all users of the platform.

Following a booking request, I have not received a reply from the owner: why?
If you wish, you can send the owner a reminder via the messaging service in your personal account. The pet owner will receive an email alert for each message received.
If you still haven't heard back from the owner, you can change your positive response to a negative one at any time to accept other booking requests.
Following acceptance of a booking request, the pet owner has not made a booking: why?
That's why it's important to keep your availability calendar up to date directly on your pet sitter profile.
.
That said, as long as the booking has not been officially confirmed by the owner, you are still free to:
- Accept the pet sitting request, thereby confirming your availability,
- Decline the request.
If you are waiting for a booking confirmation, feel free to contact the owner via the messaging system to clarify any uncertainty regarding the booking deadline.
Am I obliged to meet the owner before accepting a service?
No, a preliminary meeting is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended.
An initial meeting in person or via videoconference allows you to:
✔️ Get to know the animal and assess whether it is comfortable with you.
✔️ Clarify the owner’s expectations (food, habits, specific needs).
✔️ Check the conditions of the pet sitting and ask any questions you may have before committing.
This step is essential to avoid misunderstandings and ensure a smooth pet sitting experience.
📌 Tip: Always suggest an initial meeting. This reassures owners and builds trust!
How to handle a first meeting with a landlord and their pet?
The first meeting is essential for establishing trust and ensuring a smooth pet sitting experience. Here’s how to approach it:
1️⃣ Before the meeting: prepare yourself
✔️ Reread the pet sitting request and the owner’s profile to fully understand their expectations.
✔️ Write down important questions to ask (the pet’s habits, diet, special instructions).
✔️ Adopt a professional and caring attitude to inspire confidence.
2️⃣ During the meeting: build trust
✔️ Let the animal come to you without forcing contact, especially if it is wary.
✔️ Discuss specific needs: meals, walks, medical care, daily routine.
✔️ Ask key questions: How does it react when its owner is away? Does it have any particular fears or habits? Who is its regular vet in case of emergency?
✔️ Ask for a demonstration of certain tasks if necessary (putting on a harness, administering medication, etc.).
3️⃣ After the meeting: confirm the details
✔️ Summarise the points discussed to avoid any misunderstandings.
✔️ Confirm the dates, times and payment terms with the owner.
✔️ Remain available for any questions before the start of the pet sitting.
💡 Tip: A successful first meeting shows your professionalism and reassures the owner, increasing your chances of being contacted again for other services!
Is it necessary to sign a contract with the owner of the animals?
Although Blooming Pets facilitates connections between pet sitters and pet owners, we do not directly intervene in contractual agreements between the two parties.
However, to ensure a transparent and secure pet sitting experience, we strongly recommend formalising service agreements in a written contract.
This contract should clearly detail the obligations and expectations of each party, including, but not limited to, the duration of the pet sitting, any specific care required for the animal, the agreed rates, and any other special conditions agreed upon between the pet sitter and the owner. Signing such a document by both parties before the start of the service helps to secure the agreement and prevent any potential disagreements.
Pet sitters and owners are therefore advised to take the time to draft and sign a contract that accurately reflects the agreement they have reached. This builds mutual trust and contributes to a positive experience for the pet sitter, the owner, and, most importantly, the animal.
Can I refuse a request for childcare?
Yes, as an independent pet sitter, you are completely free to accept or decline a pet sitting request.
Before giving your answer, take the time to talk to the owner to fully understand their expectations and see if they match your availability and skills.
If you decline a request, we recommend briefly explaining your reason (unavailability, type of animal not matching your experience, etc.) in order to maintain a good relationship with the owners.
📌 A good profile and clear communication increase your chances of receiving requests that are truly suited to you!
Do I need to provide updates to the owners during the babysitting period?
Yes, it is highly recommended to keep the owners updated during the pet sitting period. This reassures them and allows them to enjoy their absence with peace of mind.
📌 What you can do:
✔️ Send a daily message via Blooming Pets’ messaging service or another method agreed upon with the owner.
✔️ Share photos or videos to show that the pet is doing well and enjoying your company.
✔️ Give a brief summary of the day: meals, walks, behaviour, playtime, etc.
📌 Please note:
✔️ Some owners appreciate regular updates, while others prefer to be contacted only when necessary. Clarify their expectations before the pet sitting assignment.
✔️ If you notice any unusual behaviour or health issues, inform the owner immediately.
💡 Tip: An attentive and communicative pet sitter inspires confidence and is more likely to be recommended for future pet sitting jobs!
Am I covered by insurance in the event of a problem with a pet I am looking after?
No, Blooming Pets does not provide insurance for pet sitters.
📌What this means for you:
✔️ You are responsible for the animals in your care and must take all necessary precautions to ensure their safety and well-being.
✔️ In the event of an incident (injury, escape, accident), you may be held liable.
✔️ We strongly recommend that you take out professional liability insurance to protect yourself in case of any problems.
💡 Tip: Before accepting a pet sitting job, discuss the animal’s habits, any potential risks and emergency contacts (veterinarian, trusted person) with the owner.

2️⃣ Contact the owner immediately
✔️ Clearly explain the symptoms or injury.
✔️ Ask them for instructions on what to do (regular vet, first aid to administer).
3️⃣ In case of a veterinary emergency
✔️ If the owner cannot be reached and the animal’s condition requires immediate attention, contact their vet or the nearest veterinary service directly.
✔️ Remember to take the animal’s medical records with you (if provided by the owner).

Do I need to declare income from my pet-sitting business?
It is important to note that, as a pet sitter generating income through your services, you are required by law to declare this income to the tax authorities.
Blooming Pets, as a platform facilitating connections between pet sitters and pet owners, emphasises the importance of complying with the tax obligations inherent to your pet sitting activity.
Declaring your income allows you to remain in compliance with tax laws and avoid any risk of penalties or irregularities.
We advise you to consult a tax advisor or refer to the resources made available by the tax authorities to understand the specific reporting requirements and any tax deductions or allowances applicable to your situation.
Remember that proper tax management of your pet-sitting income contributes to the transparency and reliability of your professional activity, which are key elements in building a relationship of trust with the pet owners who use your services.
📌 You can find all the information you need on the public service or tax authority website:

Who pays for food when looking after animals?
During a pet sitting assignment through Blooming Pets, the responsibility for providing the necessary food for the animal rests primarily with the owner. The owner must ensure that the pet sitter is provided with an adequate amount of food for the entire duration of the assignment, in addition to providing detailed instructions on the animal’s eating habits and specific needs.
For long-term pet sitting assignments, the pet sitter may have to pay for the animal’s food in advance. In such cases, the pet sitter will be reimbursed by the owner for the purchases made. It is therefore crucial that the pet sitter keeps all receipts for these purchases in order to provide proof of the expenses incurred and facilitate the reimbursement process by the owner.
It is essential that the pet sitter and owner discuss and agree in advance on how to manage any food replenishments and the terms of reimbursement. This not only ensures that the animal receives a continuous diet that is appropriate for its needs, but also ensures financial transparency between the two parties.
In summary, although the owner is responsible for providing food, in the case of extended pet sitting, the pet sitter may advance the cost of food, provided that the expenses are justified by receipts and reimbursed afterwards. Clear communication and careful planning are the key to a successful and worry-free pet sitting experience for all parties involved.
What is the rate displayed to the customer for a childcare service?
No, Blooming Pets does not take any commission on your services.
Unlike other platforms, you are free to set your own rates and receive 100% of the amount agreed with the owner. Payment is made directly between you and the owner, with no intermediary.
📌Only owners need to subscribe to access pet sitter profiles and contact them via the platform.
This allows you to work freely, with completely transparent remuneration.
Is there a commission charged on my benefits?
On Blooming Pets, the price displayed to the customer for a pet sitting service is set directly by the pet sitter, as Blooming Pets does not charge any commission or connection fees.
This price reflects the value of the service offered and may vary depending on several criteria, such as the type of service (home visits, dog walking, boarding, etc.), the duration of the pet sitting, the specific needs of the animal, and the experience and qualifications of the pet sitter.
It is important for pet sitters to set their rates fairly and transparently, taking into account local competition and the expectations of pet owners. Rates must be clearly indicated on their Blooming Pets profile, allowing potential customers to make informed decisions when selecting a pet sitter.
To ensure a positive experience for both the pet sitter and the owner, it is advisable to discuss and confirm the rate before the service begins. This includes clarifying the services included, any additional expenses (such as the advance food costs mentioned in the question « Who pays for food during pet sitting? ») and payment terms.
Blooming Pets encourages transparency and open communication between pet sitters and pet owners to ensure satisfactory agreements for all parties involved.
Can I negotiate rates with the customer?
At Blooming Pets, we recognise that every pet sitting service is unique and may require a flexible pricing approach. That’s why we offer pet sitters the opportunity to negotiate rates with clients, particularly in specific situations that fall outside the usual scope of services offered.
For example, if an owner contacts you to look after an animal that is not usually among the species you take care of, and for which you therefore do not have a predefined rate, it is entirely possible to offer an adjusted rate. To facilitate this process, Blooming Pets provides a « I propose a new price » button. This feature allows you to submit a total price per day to the client for the service in question, taking into account the specific details of the request.
This option to propose a new rate is designed to allow for greater flexibility and to best adapt to the specific needs of each owner and their pet. It encourages open communication and fair negotiation between the pet sitter and the client, ensuring that both parties are satisfied with the agreement reached.
When negotiating rates, it is important to remain transparent and fair in setting your price, taking into account your experience, the type of care required, and the time and effort that the service will require. Clarity and honesty in this process help to build trust with the client and ensure a positive experience for everyone.
Who pays for my service?
On Blooming Pets, payment for the pet sitter is made directly by the pet owner after the pet sitting service has been provided. The platform facilitates contact between pet sitters and pet owners, but the financial transaction takes place between these two parties according to the terms agreed in advance.
When negotiating the pet sitting service, pet sitters and owners agree on the price of the service, which can be adjusted according to specific needs using the « I propose a new price » button if necessary. Once the service has been completed and validated by both parties, the owner proceeds with payment according to the agreed method (cash, bank transfer, mobile payment app, etc.).
It is recommended that the payment terms be clearly discussed before the start of the pet sitting service to ensure that each party’s expectations are clearly understood and respected. This includes the total amount, the timing of payment (before, during, or after the pet sitting), and the payment method.
Blooming Pets encourages pet sitters to provide quality service to ensure owner satisfaction, which facilitates the payment process and helps establish a relationship of trust and mutual respect.
How will I be paid and how long will it take?
Payment for your services is made directly between you and the owner, without any intermediaries.
📌Here’s how it works:
✔️ You are free to set your own rates and agree on payment terms with the owner.
✔️ Payment is made without commission via the payment method of your choice 💶 (cash, bank transfer, PayPal, etc.).
✔️ The payment deadline depends on your agreement with the homeowner: we recommend that you clarify this point before starting the service.
💡 Tip: To avoid any misunderstandings, we recommend asking for a deposit or payment in advance for long-term services.

How can I easily convert photos from .heic format to .jpg or .png?
If you use a Mac and transfer photos from your iPhone to it, you have probably noticed that the format of these photos is quite unusual: the .heic format. This photo format is not supported by our platform, so you must convert them to an accepted format.
